Love to see lego collaborate with Nintendo. With the apps available to help in building lego seems to be next level. It requires a starter pack and battery operated mario, which we can brick-build to play and tackle different obstacles. My son loves it and play again and again.

Other than the character builds (looking at you Yoshi) this set is dull to build, adds nothing to the gameplay, and offers no additional challenges. I don't get the hammock, it just doesn't work as a concept during play. You can get Mario to sleep but why do you want to when you only have 60 seconds? If you tell me that it's supposed to add play outside of the theme's core concept than my complaint is why is it such a mediocre build then. This whole set barely qualifies as more than a 4+ set, so if it's not supposed to be for gameplay it also hugely fails at being a non-gameplay set.

Those looking for tricky challenges to expand their levels will not find it here, but they will find something that other LEGO Super Mario sets do not achieve to this extent – an attractive set that is the perfect place to display the Mario figure, either outside of his house or asleep in his hammock. The excellent design of this charming set makes 71367 Mario's House & Yoshi one of the more desirable sets in this interactive theme.

This is also the only way to get the fan favorite Yoshi character. At 29,99 USD EUR – $AU49.99/$NZ59.99, and only 205 pieces, I think there are some features of this set that will make it desirable to diehard fans, but I am not convinced that it adds lots to the game play.

The appeal of this set is not so much what it brings to the playability of the game but more so that it provides somewhere for Mario to rest when he's not busy bashing things, something that I suspect kids in particular will appreciate when not playing with him. The fact that it contains Yoshi adds to the allure. [...] At the full RRP of $29.99/£24.99 for 205 pieces it doesn't seem particularly good value for money, but that's the case for most of the Super Mario sets.

By itself, the Expansion set is a nice display piece, but you cannot really get the full potential out of it. There really is not much you can use the Super Star power for. But combined with other Expansion sets, this Super Power can be really important and allow you to score much better or defeat enemies you wouldn't otherwise be able to.

As one of the ranges mid-priced sets, it offers a slightly more substantial build compared to the Starter Course. It doesn't offer much in terms of gameplay, although it does have one of only Super Star Blocks and of course is the only set to include Yoshi. The set is a little less modular than others, due to only having a couple of buildable elements but that makes it much easier to integrate into a larger course. It would have been nice if Yoshi offered up more than a friendly hello from Mario and some coins, I'd have taken a simple Yoshi gulp SFX. Still, it's a fun little set and I love that even the lesser known Mario games can act as inspiration for the LEGO Super Mario sets.
