I bought this set at my local Walmart on sale for $21.00; what a deal! But lets discus the Value of this set first. First off, this set includes some very nice minifigs: Leia, Luke, a 2-1B medical droid, and an FX-7 medical droid. Bacta Tank Luke being the rarest of these minifigs. This set also includes three exam areas: a bed, an exam table/bed, and the famous Bacta Tank. As far as Value, I give it a 5 out of 5, mostly because of the rare Luke Skywalker, 2-1B medical droid, and the three different exam areas. This set also has a pretty good build, but something to lock the set closed would have been nice, but that's just a nitpick. Now for the best part: Price! The price of this set is $29.99, and you get 255 pieces; the set should really be $24.99, but what can you do. So I give it a 4 out of 5. Some people complain about the price, but I have to conclude that the value of this set slightly outweighs the price. Value wins! Although, I would recommend buying this set on sale if you can, but if you have money to spend, go for it. Thanks for reading.
This makes a nice addition to a LEGO Star Wars collection for fans who want to have every aspect of the Star Wars universe in their own at-home universes. We like all of the fun details on this, from the spinning droids to the opening drawers. It really does look like the scene from the movie. And those aspects will make this very appealing to Star Wars fans young and old who will want to play with it and keep it out on display.
There is just something about this set that pushes all of the right nostalgia buttons. As an avid LEGO photographer, I can see great potential with this set to recreate a number of iconic moments from the film and the big kid in me can see the potential this set has for play. Overall this would make a great addition to any Echo Base sets you might have in your collection already, or if this is your first foray into the range of Hoth LEGO sets, then it is a great place to start.
That detail is impressive and the model looks brilliant on display but I do wonder whether it was all necessary. For instance, the medical bay comes with four separate storage areas but contains relatively few accessories. In fact, I think a more compact rendition of this location would capture a similar level of detail so might have preferred a smaller set.
