I have been an avid Lego Star Wars collector for nearly a decade. I have long been tired of all the remakes of the OT vehicles so whenever a new vehicle comes along I eagerly await purchasing it before it's discontinued. The AT Hauler definitely fits into the unique Star Wars vehicle category. The aesthetic of the Lego set largely in white with Grey paneling for detail looks better than the source material in my opinion. I waited until it was discounted since the retail price is a bit inflated. I couldn't pass this up since I wanted to recreate the Solo train heist scene with the Cloud Swoop Bikes and Conveyex Transport both of which are equally superb. The function of the two arms that let's you pick up the train and cargo is very satisfying especially the weight of hauling stolen goods around! System fans might not be so enthralled since this is largely a technic build which makes this a really interesting experience to put together especially if you like the click sound technic elements make when put together! The system building is not as memorable and is largely centered on the shell of the vehicle. The mini figures provide a great assortment of side characters not seen in the other sets. Rio and Val are the standouts with amazingly detailed torso prints and the inclusion of the unique 2 armed molds on Rio. Looks great posed in landing mode and an amazing addition to any Star Wars vehicle collection especially paired with other Solo sets. The wonderful cast of mini figs in these sets is reason alone to complete the collection.
I'm really enjoying these Star Wars Solo Lego sets. Building them is extremely relaxing. I found this set to be pretty straightforward. The instructions were clear. It's also a fairly accurate representation of the ship in Lego form (if a bit smaller than scale). My only complaint is that the ship is a bit rickety. You can pose it in "flying" mode by putting the cargo lift arms down and you can rotate the wings to put the ship in landing mode, but overall the ship feels a bit wobbly. I'd be careful letting kids play with this one.
Fans of the Disney Star Wars film SOLO - A Star Wars Story will get the most out of this building set. It comes with 5 awesome mini figures, two of which are strong lead female characters from the film. Collector's of Star Wars toys will love the uniqueness of this particular ship and mini figures. Since this is a new ship not from an older iconic Star Wars film, it would be better to give it to a builder who knows where it comes from and what it does.
Solo: A Star Wars Story has spawned some decent LEGO sets, 75219 AT-Hauler among them. It provides a unique playset, rife with possibilities for storytelling, includes an excellent assortment of minifigures, and is a satisfying build. It will likely be a long time before the LEGO Group returns to this source material so collectors would do well to snap up this model while they can.
I feel like this set is a mixed bag, like a lot of current Star Wars sets, sadly. The figure selection is okay, but the build is mediocre and has several glaring flaws. The playability is also rather limited — the idea is that you would be able to combine this with 75215 Cloud Rider Swoop Bikes and 75217 Imperial Conveyex Transport to form the whole complete Vandor coaxium heist scene, but unfortunately the combination is not as exciting as it would be. The varying scales — the swoop bikes are quite oversized, this set is a bit undersized, and the LEGO Conveyex is extremely undersized — make it tricky to recreate the heist scene, and since neither this set nor the swoop bike set come with harpoon cables, you can't recreate the epic tug-of-war seen onscreen. Furthermore, the price of this set is much too high if you ask me — the build isn't that large, and the quality or volume of goodness here doesn't seem very good in relation to the price.
This LEGO set accurately captures the key functionality and overall look of one of the coolest new Imperial vehicles in Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Y-45 armored transport hauler. The variable configuration is achieved with fluid transitions, thanks largely to a parts selection that's mostly Technic. The minifigure selection is also a little odd, with characters not featured in the same scene as the vehicle, but the addition of Val and Rio (complemented by the rest of the crew in the same wave) to the Solo minifig lineup is certainly welcome.
