This is a cool set, although it doesn't do much. There aren't any stud shooters or anything, but still a cool set. I love the 2 in 1 Microfighter sets, and I think they should make more. I Think Lego should make a Zam Wessel Airspeeder vs. Anakin's speeder microfighter battle set. It's about time they made a new Zam Wessel minifigure.
For myself, the highlight was getting C-3PO and R2-D2 in a relatively affordable set. I like the Sandtrooper, but I have not made a heavy investment in army building over the years – and I can see that this new helmet might put some people off.
75228 Escape Pod vs Dewback Microfighters is probably my favourite set from the whole Microfighters subtheme! I was looking forward to building the Dewback and it has certainly satisfied my expectations, capturing the lumbering gait of these creatures with remarkably accuracy. The escape pod is faithful to its source material too, although I can imagine its lack of weapons might lessen the play value.
The Dewback is definitely charming, and a refreshing take for a Microfighter set. The Escape Pod is not much of a fanfare, but the delightful Dewback makes up for it.
Never before has a set caused so much internal conflict. The escape pod is just horrible, an awful design and a building experience that will leave fans deflated, but the Dewback is an absolute pleasure to construct and looks utterly adorable. It is something that would not look out of place on a shelf with a larger LEGO Star Wars collection. The fact that half of this set is so delightful and half is so disappointing makes it hard to recommend and hard to disregard. Perhaps the best advice on this occasion is to wait for a sale – but at that point, be sure to buy it.
