Death Star Escape #75229, 329 pieces. Comes with a all new Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Stormtrooper with the newly designed helmet mold. The set has a excellent design that allows you to open and close the door, retract the ramp, knock the Stormtrooper off his ledge, swing across the gap and much, much more! When building the set I was enjoying it so much that had to have the Star Wars movie playing on the TV because it brought back so many great memories of seeing Star Wars for the first time on the big screen. The build might be a little tricky for younger builders that are just starting to work with LEGO. However young and old will love this set because there is so much playability and there are so many ways you can change up the way you display the set. I decided to set mine up next to the Lego Death Star set. Having said that I think this set is a must have on my 2019 list. Both Fans/collectors of LEGO and Star Wars don't miss getting this set. Happy building to everyone.

On the whole, I am unimpressed by this set. The build is pretty bad – it looks bad, is pretty cramp, and doesn't really play that well. The minifigures are the strong suit of the set but I don't like that new stormtrooper minifigure, and the price is mediocre.

Rather like 75203 Hoth Medical Chamber, the question is will younger fans get much play value from 75229 Death Star Escape? Once the door has been dropped, the platform pulled in and the heroes have completed their daring swing, there really isn't much to do apart from repeat the process. This feels more like a set for collectors to display rather than younger fans to play with.

75229 Death Star Escape is certainly a set which has been designed primarily for play and it excels in that regard. The functions are simple but they are enjoyable and I am impressed by the effective use of space within such a small model. Moreover, the minifigures are excellent and I like the new Stormtrooper, although becoming accustomed to his updated helmet might take some time.

For the size of this set, it's a good build. It has the original trilogy vibe, and represents the scene very well. It looks nice enough to be on display, but there are also fun play features, making it a good choice for both adults and children. I can see AFOLs having several scenery sets on display. Added bonus is the figures. Both Leia and Luke are popular characters, and this is a relatively cheap set to score them.

If seen through the lens of a set meant to be played with and having completed the build – this is a wonderful set for re-enacting movie scenes and extending the imagination. It was never meant to be a display piece. As long as you have the right mindset from the start, it should not disappoint. A reasonably priced set with 3 minifigures, it will keep you entertained for a bit and probably make you want to watch the movie again.
