Huge fan or Star Wars; and while I thought The Last Jedi had it's faults I thought to Porgs were one of the better aspects of the movie. The Lego Prog was a great build although there is a glitch in the instructions. Steps 149 and 171 show a 1x8 and 2x6 being required, however it's actually a 1x8 and 2x8 being used. Fortunately the assembly diagram in these steps show the 2x8 correctly.
It's pretty much a life sized porg made of lego. It has some articulation, and looks good. I'm glad to see lego making some sets outside of the playsets and ships. It's refreshing to be building a creature. Also, the added minifigure porg was a nice touch though.
OMG! This Porg set will make any true Star Wars fan proud. With its intricate details and signature features, this Porg is faithful to his on-screen counterpart, which is sure to make any fan smile. Plus, its a nice touch that he can move too!
I think this is a great, endearing model. The model is irresistibly cute, and is very well done overall. The minifigure selection consists of one brick-built porg, which is okay. I mean, all you really need is one minifig-scale porg, though it's not exactly the most impressive figure. As for playability, well this isn't exactly a very playable set, as it's more for display, but the opening mouth/flapping wings action feature works very well. The price is also lower than I expected – 75187 BB-8 felt very overpriced to me so I was pleasantly surprised and I don't think this price is unreasonable. Pretty great set overall!
This is good as a display set and I suppose it looks good if it is placed among the UCS with its display stand especially the BB-8 model.
I didn't have a bad opinion about the set before building it, but I always try to keep an open mind with any LEGO set I see or build. I also didn't hate the Porg. However I really like this set, the build is fun and more complex than expected. Plus I love the movement functions. I think I expected it to be bigger, but having built it, I would probably say it's about the same size as an actual Porg would be. If you hate Porgs with a passion, then this set probably wouldn't be your cup of tea anyway. But if you fancy building something different and unique, I recommend giving this set a chance.
75230 Porg will not appeal to everyone but I am very pleased with this model. Not only does it capture the adorable appearance of these creatures in Star Wars: The Last Jedi but the porg is sturdily constructed and includes a couple of fun play features. Ideally, the wings would have a slightly greater range of motion, although the existing design still looks good.
Despite a few shortcomings, LEGO's designers have done an excellent job overall with shaping the creature. As a statically posed model (without its scary mouth open), it's as cute as any small furry creature with huge eyes ought to be. And the Porg also makes a bit of history, having the singular distinction of being LEGO's first Star Wars creature in a scale larger than minifigure scale. We certainly hope it's not the last–personally, I'm rooting for a UCS-style Mynock or Luggabeast.
