Wow, awesome set! In our house I build and display LEGO, but my 3.5 year old plays with them. So, I like the playscale sets for that reason. In this case, you're only giving up some size compared to the UCS as this still looks incredible. The handle is a great addition, and will actually help to display it. Love when triggers are added for the spring shooters. What surprised me is it was more technical than a lot of other playscale sets. I wouldn't call it expert level, but novice builders or younger children would struggle on their own. My only real critique is Han falls out the back door if he's inside the carbonite due to weight. Otherwise it's nearly perfect.

This is a beautifully-designed product and a major improvement over the 2010 version. The new Slave I has better shaping thanks to the use of many newer part and it has many wonderful play features. The rotating wings and cockpit are smooth and stylish, and I particularly love the hidden swooshing handle on the underside of the ship. Despite the major price tag, this is the best set of the wave.

I quite enjoyed the build, as well as the play features of this set. The shape of the model is one of the closest yet, with regard to the source material at this scale. Zuckuss makes a welcome arrival here in the pantheon of LEGO Bounty hunters. If you already own 8070 or the UCS 75060 versions, you might not feel the love for it as much, but I think it offers significant improvement s in design, for display and play, over the 8070 from 2010.

75060 Slave I remains the definitive rendition of Boba Fett's imposing vessel but this model is similarly exceptional. The vehicle feels extremely sturdy and incorporates some interesting functions while also capturing numerous subtle details. I am particularly impressed with the varied textures on the exterior as these faithfully replicate the worn appearance of the Slave I during The Empire Strikes Back.

The Brothers Brick

Recommendation: yes by Edwinder

The Slave 1 LEGO 20th Anniversary Edition is most definitely unique, and the second-largest Slave 1 to be issued, right after the Ultimate Collector Series version. Although it is at just about half the piece count of its UCS cousin, it definitely does a good job of capturing the essence of everyone's favorite bounty hunter's mode of transport. The larger UCS version is accurate minifigure scale, so this one is technically a bit small, but you wouldn't know it at a glance. It does also come with a unique character (Zuckuss) who's never been issued before, so it's one to go after if you must have all of Boba's buddies in your collection.

Recommendation: meh by Rob

Slave I should be a tricky customer to design, for the unusual number of changes in direction, the very many angles that create precise corners, and the rounded edges that are everywhere else. Yet, through 20 years and now five System scale designs, the LEGO Star Wars team of designers has consistently offered upgrade upon upgrade that has always maximised the potential of the bricks available to them. That 75243 Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition does the same and then some is something very exciting to consider as we look forward to the next 20 years of LEGO Star Wars. Also, there are minifigures. Let's not forget that we can complete the bounty hunter collection now with the addition of Zuckuss. As if you needed another reason to pick this set up.

Overall the LEGO Star Wars Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition (75243) is a decent set that has some good updates from the previous version. I do like the new handle on the back to swoosh it easier. The spring-loaded missiles are somewhat of an eyesore since they are exposed right in the middle but the functionality of it is nice. The minifigure selection is perfect with some of them being exclusive only to this set.
