As always, LEGO nails it and kids will love re- enacting scenes from the Star Wars films.
Ok so I reviewed Anakin's Pod Racer set. I loved the Pod Racer but was more "meh" when it came to the figures. Ironically this review is almost the opposite for me. First off, this set comes with an AT-RT Clone Scout Walker, Dwarf Spider Droid, a trooper, a Wookie , a droid trooper, and the legendary Darth Vader himself. The vehicles aren't terrible. Not too hard to put together and the spider is neat looking. Also like the height on the AT-RT. But I find them just OK. Neither of them really blew me away. The figures in this set are pretty cool though! All of them are nice and detailed, and Darth Vader! Yes I know he's there just to get people to buy all 5 sets to get all the extra figures. And it works frankly. Darth Vader is always great! Final rating: B The vehicles might not be the coolest. But the figures are cool. And how can you go wrong with Star Wars and Lego? Worth buying!
First, I have never been a big fan of the Clone Wars items. But this set changed my mind. It's a very interesting build, and contains quite a few unique elements that make the details stand out. You get 3 minifigures in this set. The Kashyyyk trooper is pretty awesome. The Scout Walker itself is cool, and full of detail, with a really nice mix of accent colors. The only negative thing that I could say is that the functionality of the legs is less than what I would like to see. But overall, it is an amazingly cool display piece. And the 20th anniversary Darth Vader is a nice touch, and a welcome addition to my collection.
75261 Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary Edition was reviewed in issue 55 of Blocks Magazine.
75261 Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary Edition delivers its titular vehicle well, but the Dwarf Spider Droid would have been better substituted for an extra minifigure or two more Battle Droids.
As for the builds, the bunker trench is an okay addition but I do like the spider droid which makes good use of the hemisphere pieces for the head. The Clone Scout Walker is a decent size and the updates for it are more screen accurate. There are only a handful of stickers that give some more detailing to the walker.
75261 Clone Scout Walker - 20th Anniversary Edition is probably the most unusual of these twentieth anniversary sets, taking inspiration from an unexceptional source. However, choosing to produce a vehicle from the Clone Wars era was certainly welcome and this is an impressive model. It looks brilliant on display and the accompanying minifigures are appealing, even though a specialised driver could have been included.
