I had a lot of fun building the tie fighter pilot helmet. The details are really impressive. This one comes with the most pieces out of the 3 helmets released so far, most bang for your bucks. The build was a bit repetitive as it is symetrical and most parts are black, very enjoyable still. Looks great on my display shelf! Fett's helmet is on its way in the mail...
This model is good. The build isn't the most fun or instructive, but it does the job, and the completed model looks excellent. Plus, it has the most parts of the three, so value-wise it's up there.
Creating all these small, seemingly random tablescrappy bits and bobs, assembling them on a weird cube and adding some train wheels might not be to everyone's taste but I loved it. I'm not sure I'll rush to build another... unless the rumours of a Darth Vader in 2021 are true. I chose the TIE fighter out of personal preference for the design, but I suspect I am in the minority. The others make better display models due to their colouring.
Despite some slight fudging on the proportions, this is instantly recognisable as the TIE Fighter Pilot helmet and will not be mistake for anything from Gentle Giant or any other company. It balances being a beautiful Star Wars display piece with being a LEGO model and at this scale it is hard to ask for much more than what it achieves. LEGO Star Wars fans keen to try out this new expression are unlikely to be disappointed by 75274 TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet.
Ultimately, if you're a Star Wars fan looking to add a cool new piece to your collection, these are fantastic models that can look great in any environment, whether on the shelf in your LEGO room or your desk at work.
Overall the LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet (75274) has a bit more detail than Boba Fett but a lot of the build is also very repetitive. The angles on it is pretty spot on and the way the tubes are designed is very nice. Since it is a helmet, the coloring is extremely bland on the completed build as there is absolutely no color besides on the plaque on the base.
Despite sharing similarities with 75276 Stormtrooper, 75274 TIE Fighter Pilot looks absolutely fantastic on display and is certainly a worthy addition to the Helmet Collection. I love the black colour scheme which contrasts with other models and assists in softening any edges that may otherwise appear excessively sharp. The metallic silver Imperial symbols look particularly nice as well.
Fett is one mysterious cool guy and the Stormtroopers are an icon of the Star Wars brand, both thanks to their helmets. But quite surprisingly it's the TIE Fighter Pilot helmet which nips the top spot for me, after building all three sets. The blend of a Stormtrooper helmet and that of a real-world fighter pilot makes for a cool looking helmet and an even better LEGO set. The build of the TIE Fighter Pilot helmet, although similar to the other two sets, is certainly the most engaging. It's higher piece count is certainly shown in the finished product. Although the set is basically a mass of black elements, it's still nicely detailed and I love things like the breather pipes and the printed Imperial insignia. Most Star Wars fans will be picking up all three sets, but if you are merely intrigued to just build one, I highly recommend opting for this one.
