Although D-O didn't have a huge role in The Rise of Skywalker, the Droid's unique appearance and nervous voice made him memorable enough. That unique appearance certainly makes for decent LEGO set. The build is rather good and at first, I thought it would be quite simple and over in a flash However it took longer to construct than I thought. The uni-tread employs a very interesting technique and the use of parts perfectly matches the look of the Droid. Creating curved things with LEGO elements is never easy but just like the buildable BB-8 from a few years ago, it can be done and it can look great. It makes for a great display piece, which would look great alongside other LEGO Star Wars Droids.
This set was a mixed bag for me. I love the D-O droid character and it is a very good representation. However, there are some misses: 1) as others have noted, it is over priced, 2) structurally the head/neck is weak and flops around a bit (reminds me of the WALL-E LEGO), 3) I feel the platform/base and nameplate should be integrated or be able to be connected; also I feel the base should be black & dark grey rather than tan & brown (I also feel the box art with the D-O in the grass is weird).
When fans see a new X-wing Starfighter or TIE Fighter, they have to debate whether to buy it, or wait for the next version. Will it feature an improved design? Will it include a more desirable minifigure? In the case of D-O though, it's highly unlikely that this character will be revisited in this way. It isn't a perfect model, but it's close enough to how the droid looks on-screen to satisfy fans of D-O and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

75278 D-O has exceeded my expectations. Despite its geometric outward appearance, this creation integrates some ingenious construction techniques and differs dramatically from any previous Star Wars models. The functions are simple but work perfectly and I like the intricate detailing across the exterior, particularly around the powerbus cables that appear realistic.
