This is such a fun set to build and display--lots of intricate building details but not repetitious, though you do have to be attentive or you'll overlook a small piece along the way. My kids have also enjoyed playing with it even though it's designed as more of a display piece. Highly recommend!

LEGO has produced several large-scale Star Wars characters during recent years but 75318 The Child is undoubtedly my favourite! The shape of the head is not perfect and the reversed fabric textures across the robe look strange, although I understand the reasoning behind that decision. Otherwise, this model looks magnificent, accurately recreating its wonderful source material and including considerable detail.

The LEGO Group knocks it out of the park with 75318 The Child. This is the best buildable character so far and a credit to the LEGO Star Wars design team's continued application of the highest possible standards. What they achieved in previous, comparable models was pretty great, but, in putting together 75318 The Child, they have crafted a wholly authentic and expressive recreation of a much-loved, adorable character from a new chapter in the Star Wars galaxy.

The Child is certainly a cute little fellow and that cuteness has translated into his brick-built form surprisingly well. The posable elements are limited but this kind of works in its favour. The build is quite fun, although the mass of the same coloured elements used on the robes can be a little tricky in places. Apart from that, it will keep you busy for a couple of hours and it's the perfect set to sit down with and build as you watch episodes of The Mandalorian on Disney+. The end result is a cute little build to brighten up your LEGO collection.

I'm not immune to the delicate charm of “Baby Yoda" nor to new pieces being added to the LEGO System. No single recoloured part in this set is groundbreaking on its own but the sizable quantity of fan-favourite colours is sure to draw the attention of most LEGO enthusiasts. The finished build makes for a delightful decoration with lots of expression and some playability. Best of all, there's no bounty on this brick baby's head.

Once you get your hands on the set and see the Child's expressions in person, you're going to fall in love. That's not to say it's a perfect set, though. One thing could have made it perfect: it needs a bowl of soup and moveable arms to silently sip and judge you. I suspect it won't be long before we see fan mods of the set to do just this, but it's a shame it doesn't include that out of the box.
