Our son is very into Lego's right now and this quickly became one of his favorites. He loves the little mini figure and tool and light and plays with this all the time. He is 8, going on 9 and built it very quickly. Came earlier than promised.
Once I saw this set I knew I had to have it being a lover of Ferrari. As far as the closeness to the real car I have no idea. The overall build was fairly easy all except the fact that it had lots of stickers and with a broken arm they were hard to put on with a single hand. The car looks really good and the racing light thing adds a lot of play ability to the set. The wheels have a lot of friction so it won't roll easily. It will roll two feet on tile if pushed firmly. It is also hard to turn side to side. The car is very strong through. Over all the look of the set is awesome, but the play part is a big letdown due to the wheels.
Although the LaFerrari (75899) isn't an exact replica of the car, it does have have it have some highlights. I do like the new windshield pieces in the LEGO Speed Champions line and the one is this set is unprinted so you can use it with other builds. Although many people don't like the stickers, I think they are required to make the cars shine.
Although this is by no means a perfect representation of a LaFarrari I think it's a pretty good attempt. I enjoyed building it more than the McLaren and I think the finished model looks much better even though the length:width proportions are way out. Its appearance is greatly enhanced by the application of stickers. None are difficult to apply, or go over multiple pieces, although a couple are tricky to align exactly right because they need to be straight and centered on the part.
