I'm not impressed with this set. It's well made, not a bad value, but I'm not interested in what they were going for. It recreates a toy train, but toy trains lack the depth of something like, say, The Emerald Night. As a result, this is not all that impressive to me. So, if you like Toy Story, this could well be a fantastic set, but, if you admire Toy Story, well, this may not convert you.
For months leading up to Christmas all my little boy asked Santa for was a "Woody Lego Train." This was a great Christmas Eve assembly, and has been played with non-stop in the month since Christmas. Though it often disintegrates when a boxcar is dropped, a little quick re-assembly of the durable legos has it back up and running. I also purchased extra track and the motor functions, and this is a little tricky to assemble into the gray box-car unit. There are several helpful youtube videos out there to walk you through the assembly though. You will need to scavenge a few pieces from other lego sets, but chances are if you buy this it will not be the only lego stuff you own.
