for the suggested retail price of 19.99 this set is by far the best IM3 set for the price, which it was when I bought it. I expect this to go back down when it is more widely available (in stores). As for the product itself, for me it was easily the best of the IM3 line. The boat is cool looking, nicely detailed and fun. You get the War Machine Minifig which as well as a glow in the dark Killian Minifig (great fun), both exclusive to this set. All this for 19.99 can't be beat: 5 stars.
Iron Man is one of my favorite Superheroes. So I'm probably bias a bit in my opinion of this set, but overall it's a very good set. The functions, while not new, are used in a very nice new way, that is really quite amazing. New minifigures are a big draw to LEGO sets for me, and this set has three new ones. All three designed excellently. I'm not sure about the boat really. The functions are great though. LEGO has done an excellent job with this set, I'm sure this scene will make more sense once the movie comes out.
Overall, I really dig the Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle set. There's been a few decent sets this year that are priced at $19.99 and this set is not an exception. The minifigures included are very nice especially the long-awaited War Machine. The speedboat looks pretty good after it's been completed. The buoy though doesn't do anything for me but more of a piece count filler.
All in all, this is a solid set. There's nothing outstanding here, except for the exclusive War Machine minifig, but the speedboat is a satisfying build and looks good when it's done.
If you only buy one IM3 set this summer, you should make it this one. Reasonable price, relatively fun little set with a good fig assortment. It isn't just the most not accurate set, it's the least worst set of the range. Double whammy. The movie left a lot of unanswered questions that RDJ's contract renewal for Avengers 2 & 3 may or may not leave room to answer, but if you use your imagination with these sets you'll probably come up with some crazy crap to plug up all those plot holes.
n the end, the Extremis Sea Port Battle is a nice addition to the LEGO Super Heroes family. It's got the figs, the playability, and is the first set to impress me with the flick-fire missiles. The price-to-piece ratio is even decent, and is especially decent considering it contains three awesome figs for a licensed theme.
