Pros: This set is great...the vehicle is swooshable and has play features that work well and fit with the look of the vehicle. It displays well too and feels like it is at the right price point. Then of course you get Lobo and Krypto two new characters in the Superman series. I love how DC is branching out in Lego. We don't need Batman in every set and this one shows that. There is also a good selection of parts here...overall very nice little set. Cons: Lobo should have had signature chain and sickle weapon. Given the Ninjago sets this should have been an easy addition. Stickers.
Truth be told I know next to nothing about Krypto but for some reason I am completely in love with this figure. Only sporting movement at the neck and a soft goods cape, it's a super basic figure. I still love it. The Kryptonite prison is an odd little playset that you can use the block from Lobos motorcycle (The spacehog) to break open and allow Superman to escape. It can clip onto the back of the Lex Mech Takedown set for extra fun. Lobos skin tone on his head doesn't match up the the rest of his body so if you're not picky it may bother you a little. The Spacehog will take you about 30 minutes to put together and was a pretty fun build. It also comes with some new effect parts in green that can be used as weapons and exhaust for the motorcycle or as I found out this morning: Perfect constructs for Green Lantern. Over all it's a really great set for $19.99 and it adds some really neat minifigures to anyone's collection.
This set is an unexpected highlight in the LEGO Superheroes lineup: I would never have expected Lobo to be represented in as a minifigure, and it is a beauty. Superman and Krypto's team ups difficult to discern, but they are both neat figures. The rest of the build is quite swooshable and playable, and the power burst elements are great fun.
Overall, the set is fun. While it would have been preferable for the LEGO Group to forgo the ancillary build in favour of a smaller, less expensive set, what is here still makes for a reasonably priced offering. For most people it will likely come down to how much the want a Lobo minifigure. For everyone else, the set makes for a decent parts pack, especially if you find it on sale.
Well, I'm kind of unimpressed. I got this for the Lobo minifigure, but other than that the set isn't very interesting. The minifigures aren't very good apart from Lobo, and the builds aren't exciting. Playability is okay, but I wish the price was a little lower in the non-U.S. regions.
If you're just looking for some crazy Superhero action, you can find sets that won't make your head hurt as much.
