At this price point, you're getting a set packed with great minifigures, details, and looks incredible as a display model, all within a compact form factor, which is great for those with limited display space.
I love this set. I love how the fish are printed on the tiles. I also love that it can connect to the modular buildings. Good job LEGO on this set. I got the fourth to last one at the LEGO store. I am glad I got this awesome set. Thank you LEGO.
This is by far one of the best sets, if not the best LEGO set that I ever had the pleasure of reviewing this year. The LEGO Spring Lantern Festival set knocks it out of the park on so many different levels. It is gorgeous to look at when completed and it was such an ease to build, not to mention thoroughly enjoyable. The set is able to traverse different themes as this could easily fit into your modular city or sidled up to your Ninjago City set.
This is easily one of my favourite LEGO sets ever. It has an amazing selection of new and rare recolours and printed elements, and the final model is just gorgeous to look at. The building experience was really enjoyable through and through, even though it may not be very complex, there are intriguing details to keep you engaged from bag to bag. The pavilion, particularly the roof, was like a perfect dessert to a perfect meal, with its intricate design. I don't think there is anything more I can ask for, especially given that it is an 8+ set.
I'm a huge fan of the CNY sets. The attention to detail, colours and stories included are what makes LEGO so exciting for me, and I'm so glad they've continued producing them. I'd highly recommend picking these up when you can get them. You won't regret it.
The final model is visually very impressive, as well as being much more interesting and enjoyable to build than I was expecting. It's very detailed and makes good use of its 32×48-stud footprint. It is quite stable, though it's easier to move the two sections separately than when connected. The build makes great use of parts and colour, especially with the pagoda and foliage, and there's really very little to complain about here – except perhaps the questionable integration of that light brick.
It's a set like no other and I will not be surprised if I name it 'set of the year' next December.
It's another home run for the seasonal theme, and once again ensures that the LEGO Group is starting off the new year – and the Chinese New Year – with a bang.
At 1793 parts for $119.99 USD, this set comes in at under seven cents per piece. This is a pretty great value, particularly when you consider it includes eight unique minifigures. There's a wealth of useful, unusual elements, and a lot of those come in brand new or rare colors. The build is fun with interesting techniques and great detailing. I would have liked to have seen a bit more information about the festival included in the instructions, but that's a minor nit that's easily corrected by the magic that is Google. So, even if you're not up on Chinese Festivals, I still recommend you check this set out. Maybe you'll get hooked, too.
I can keep it short: I love this set. It has a great atmosphere, the color scheme is beautiful, and everything just works.
