This is a great set, and with 227 pieces, I felt like I was finally getting my money's worth in a $20 set. As soon as you can get $20, go out and purchase this great set right away! Great minifigs and great models. I love it.

When I first saw this set, I wasn't thrilled. I knew I would probably get it for Sam and Gollum since they're not available otherwise in this wave. Having assembled it, however, I've grown to really like it. Besides the awesomely fabulous figs, Shelob is an interesting build with good parts. She is without a doubt the best Lego Spider ever built. If you like that kind of thing.

I think it's a cool set – the three minifigures are good, the build is nice (and good for scaring little kids), playability is neat because you can act out the Shelob scene, and price is good as the spider is appropriately sized in relation to the price. Just all-around good.

Such an awesome set! The spiderweb can be raised and lowered. I think all these sets are overpriced, but the toys are good quality, and my little guy can follow the instructions on his own, so it's worth it.

This is the only set you can get Sam in, and until the Hobbit sets, Gollum too. For those reasons alone, this is a must-have for collectors. For more casual fans and builders, this set offers some fun building and a good variety of parts for a price lower than expected for a licensed set. I can heartily recommend you add this to your collection.

Overall the build is fun. It did have considerable amount of dark tan plates (7 or 8 including 2 wing pieces and a 1x6 tile), lots of reddish brown pieces, and significant amount of hinged plates and click plates.

Shelob is a really fun build (save for the repetitive legs) and is even more enjoyable to play and pose with. The minifigs are great AND you get Gollum. I have to recommend this set to anyone, even if you're not intending to complete the Fellowship just to get Sting, Gollum, three One Rings AND an exceptionally designed spider. My only minor complain is that Shelob's eyes fall off pretty easily and it has happened quite often when playing with the set. Other than that, I can't find any fault with this set.

Shelob is a nice build and would look great on display, standing over the hobbits or hanging eerily from a hook on your ceiling. Plus, it's cheap! Definitely worth the twenty bucks, I'd say. In fact, I bought two.
