I was thoroughly impressed with this set. I bought it for 71AUD$ and used a 25$ gift card on it, but even at the full price of 90$ I wouldn't have regretted the purchase. The build was fun, the minifigures are fantastic and the set looks as much as a collectible item as it looks like a toy. Compared to my other LotR sets, Helm's Deep and the Uruk-hai Army, I particularly like one aspect of "The Attack on Weathertop": Rather than depicting specific parts of a set (e.g. Mines of Moria, Orc Forge) or being open (e.g. Helm's Deep), Weathertop achieves a complete feel. While this is obviously possibly due to its comparatively smaller size, the set reminds me of my old Forestmen and Pirate sets. Possibly it is for this reason in combination with the LotR license, that 9472 is my favourite LEGO set of all time.

A must-have set for LOTR and Castle fans alike. The pieces can be used for anything, from medieval castles to modern skyscrapers. Most of the minifigures are very desirable, and the set has a great design to boot. I would reccomend that anyone considering buying some LOTR sets purchase this before Helm's Deep, but after the Mines of Moria.

I saved up for this set and have really enjoyed it. I love Lord of the Rings and Aragorn is one of my favourite characters. I'm 13 years old and it took my sister and I about two hours to assemble and set up. It was very fun. I don't really have any problems with the set other than the black riders hoods fall off sometimes. The stairs were loose during assembly and fell apart once but after all the pieces were in they didn't have anymore problems. I was really thrilled with two little statues you put in as decoration. The 5 minifigures are all pleasing. Except for the black riders they each have a "normal" face and a scared/fighting face. Frodo has some impressive white circles as his eyes on the scared side. The set altogether was fun and worth the money I spent.

Overall, this set is alright. I think the minifigure selection is good – I like the exclusive Nazgûl and Merry. The build also looks quite nice. However, the price is not good. It's simply too high for a model of this size, especially in the U.S., though it is still expensive elsewhere.

Other than the price, there really aren't many downsides to this set. It has a solid design, good look, and it's from a pretty cool franchise. However, price can be a big factor, but if you can afford it (or have a coupon or wait for it to go on clearance or something) then I highly recommend buying this set.

Weathertop is a really great set, with a fun build and a very decent-sized structure upon completion. If you wan't to collect all 9 members of The Fellowship, you're going to have to get Weathertop for Merry, but more on that I think the 2 Nazgul make this a set worth considering. Coming in at US$60 however, the price is kinda steep and you're getting 2 minifigs (Aragorn and Frodo) that you can get in other sets. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed building this set, and it looks great as a display set. Going beyond mere aesthetics, I love that you can pop it open to interact with its interior, which I think, young kids will enjoy the play features. It's craggy exterior and curved walls make it look very similar to the movies and overall, it makes a pretty good playset.

It's not that it doesn't have good figures… it does. Or that it's too expensive (it is). It's that the best moment of the scene isn't the fight at all, it's the whole discussion with the hobbits, trying to make breakfast. Shortly before, they were talking about Seconds-ies, Brunch, and everything. I would have much rather seen more hobbits in this set, and take Aragorn out, or better yet, add Pippin and make this set fully worth the $60 price tag. It was close before it, and I think that's probably the difference. That or another Ringwraith.
