Building skills - many pieces to put together and change up; creative thinking - developing new hybrids, backgrounds of characters and fantasy play.7 y/o grandson got a bunch of these for his b-day after he played with them at LegoFest last year. Thought they would be too many pieces but he's put together many intricate Lego sets in the past year.He loves them!!!! He can change the pieces around and make all kinds of variations of creatures.Got him a book to introduce him to the backgrounds of the characters which enhanced his playing pleasure even more.
The figures look great in displays, and kids can create fight scenes between the protector figure and the skull spider.
I feel like the Protectors offer a great value by constraction standards. For ten dollars you get at least 66 pieces, including a fully armed figure and a Skull Spider for them to fight. The figures themselves are a substantial size in spite of their cutesy, slightly child-like proportions, boasting diverse physiques and even more diverse weapons. And the sets have no shortage of play value thanks to the pop-off masks and rapid-fire shooters.
I like the Protector of Jungle. He's got a fun build, a decent weapon, And a good look overall. His color scheme is great, and I don't feel the trans-armor clashes too much with the bright green on his mask. Of course if you have lewa, this guy is a must have as the two look great together.
There are very few things to nitpick about the Protector of Jungle set. It has a nice color scheme (mostly) and provides some interesting parts in addition to some new ones. For the sheer level of nostalgia this and the other sets should be on your must have list, and that is not even including the parts value. This is the first time in a long time where my wallet is going to shell out moolah to obtain each set, which has not been done since pre-Spherus Magna.
The Protector of Jungle is one of the three Protectors I would recommend picking up. The Power Up mode for Lewa is probably one of the coolest in the series, and without little PoJ here, that wouldn't be possible.
I would definitely recommend picking up at least one protector. This one happens to be my favorite of them all. With the cheaper price and the good variety of parts, Protector of Jungle is worth consideration.
