I have been a Bionicle fan since 2004, and it is so awesome that it is back. Lewa is a great set. He has great weapons, great functions, and overall is good. My only problem is that the articulation in his neck is non-existent, and the mask function does not work. Otherwise this is a great set and a must buy for any Bionicle fan!
My kids love these things. I love that they require them to assemble it themselves and they seem to be teaching them a little about mechanical engineering and how different parts interact with each other to not only make something, but how the parts work together to make different parts move. They love to assemble them, play with them, disassemble them, and reassemble them again. Hours of fun.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with both of these sets! I think they are a great taste of what the new BIONICLE theme has to offer, and a great value for money. Gali remains my favorite of the new Toa, and Lewa is one of the most unique of the six in terms of his armor and body proportions. I definitely recommend them to any BIONICLE fan or any LEGO fan that wants to dip their toes in the water of the constraction (buildable action figure) category.
I'm going to come off as pessimistic in this one. He's my least favorite Toa. He's still a good figure, with a great color scheme and the shoulder build is really unique. But a lame adrenaline mode, strange weapons, the head articulation, and of course my dislike of the mask have lead me to put him at the bottom of the list. All of the new Toa are great so being at the bottom isn't necessarily a terrible thing, and I think my pictures will be the deciding factor more than my words, but there he is.
Either way you look at it, Lewa is a cool new set to see. Even if his form factor varies from the original, that is to be expected with an entire revamp. It would have been nice if some things had been done differently, but overall Lewa is (not full of hot air and) still the Master of Jungle.
Out of the 3 new BIONICLE sets I have, Lewa isn't my favorite, but it still gains the advantages of CCBS with articulation and the new gearbox system to elevate it beyond some of his past incarnations. Still worth a buy if you're a Lewa fan or want to get the X-Glider piece along with some talons and swords.
I'd recommend other sets over Lewa, but he does have value, so it's not a bad set either.
