The Pohatu figure has multiple points of articulation and comes with two Stormerang weapons that can convert into Jeterangs, which Pohatu wears for flight. He also has a wheel-operated bashing battle arm function, that swings his arm up and down by turning the wheel on the figure's back. The figure comes with two masks, a brown one and a gold one, plus there is an enemy Skull Spider that can also be used as a third mask.
At first, I wasn't sure whether or not to get any of the new BIONICLE sets. But, after rebuilding some of my old BIONICLEs, watching the old movies, and re-reading the books, I decided I had to give it a shot. My favorite character is Pohatu, so I found him and bought him. Believe me, I was not disappointed. He looked great after assembly. After buying him, I now want Kopaka, Protector of Ice, and Skull Scorpio!!! Although the toa now have Hero Factory pieces, they still look really cool. Pros: Looks awesome Stormerangs are flexible and look great Gear function is much easier to pose than the 2001 version Color scheme looks cool Jeterangs fit nicely under his feet Looks great with brown, gold, or Skull Spider mask Skull Spider comes with tail (Only one other set has this!) Mask pop-off function Cons: Mask is NOT sturdy So, as you can see, I think that LEGO did a great job with the BIONICLE re-release. I'm still not sure about the exposed ball joints, but they don't bother me much. Many pros, only one con. Hopefully the others are the same way. Thank you for reading!!!
There's a lot to take in here- Dark orange, boomerangs, trans neon green bones, and of course the change to a more normal geared torso. He's the smallest Toa, and also totals to a measly 66 piece- 1 less than the Protector of Stone. With that said, he's one of the least cluttered of the new Toa. I'm still not sure entirely how I feel about him.
Having Pohatu here is really cool. Not just because Bionicle is back, and not just because brown is back, but because he is a really awesome constraction set. He has fighting power through strength and some neat weapons. His friends can help protect him and team up. His foe can cause havoc and who knows what else. And although he is not attributed to have any enhanced speed powers, his form gives us a semblance of agility and his Stormarangs look like they can do some damage utilizing the surrounding area. All in all, he is another welcome addition to the return of Bionicle.
Aesthetically, the new Pohatu looks really cool. Lego have definitely managed to raise the bar for the typically under-performing brown set. That being said, there are still better Toa out there, in my opinion.
By himself, he is a fun set, and takes the right steps. Compared to the majority of the other Toa of the wave, however, and he falls short in most of the categories he would otherwise succeed in, and makes you question his overall value. As one of the mid-size sets, his price justifies the content, but not the quality.
