This is a curious set, but one that I really liked. It's designed for display and for play, and it does a good on both fronts. Turn it around, and you get the playset features, but most of the time it just made me wish I had three or more of this set to try and build it out into a proper modular hospital and prison.
The LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum (70912) is a pretty cool set with a lot of playability to it. The design of it is a upgrade to the Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout (10937) from 2012. The different areas of Arkham seems for substantial from the previous Arkham such as each villain having their own cell.
Out of all the lego prisons I have this is the best! even though they are city sets this set is the coolest!
Despite a couple of shortcomings, the positives of Arkham Asylum easily outweigh them – this is a set done right. It holds an enormous amount of play potential for kids, would make a fine display for an AFOL, and is a great source of useful parts for the MOCers out there. I have every version of Arkham Asylum released by the LEGO Group, and can confirm that this is the best version yet – it comes highly recommended.
Despite the fact that this set has more parts than its predecessors, the final result is not entirely satisfactory. The aesthetic are similar to the set 10937 from the year 2012, with the windows, although in the current set the brown color is more predominant.
In summary, this set is the most expensive of the tie-in sets for The LEGO Batman Movie and offers a lot of Black, Reddish Brown and Medium Stone Grey parts for fans who want to use the parts for other builds. While I love the Gothic features, this façade of Arkham Asylum doesn't look too bad from the outside, but is ultimately a little disappointing inside.
