Ninjago ninja Lego sets have been around for quite a while. There's been a TV series and a movie. All the sets have had a certain feel to them that has been consistent along the line. There have been a lot of temple sets over the years. There has been color and size variation, but a lot of sameness. I've been wondering if I would keep buying Ninjago sets because I wasn't sure if there was any freshness to them anymore. This temple set certainly mixes things up! The style feels like a mix between Ninjago and Nexo Knights. It feels like a Tron Ninjago set with lots of panels of transparent colors. It has a video game vibe with hit points floating above the minifigures? It was fun to build and it's fun to look at.If this is where Ninjago is going this year, I can't wait to see what else they come up with! My son really liked putting this together and he and my daughter have been playing with it all evening. It's really cool!
This set came damaged, not the fault of LEGO itself, was just a certain retailer that I won't name (this will not effect the review). First of all, this set looks really good. I really like the way that the red, black and cyan colours look together, it really makes the set look quite evil. I do really like the main feature, the opening door and the figures, which look really good, as most have recently. I do have some issues with it though, this set includes all three keytanas which I do appreciate a lot, but it has features for only two of them which I find strange. Cole's scythe weapon has a white bar underneath (not sure if that's accurate or not) I think it should've been translucent neon green instead. Lastly, why are the lanterns 1x1 cylinders? Wouldn't it have been better with white mini figure heads? Overall, I'd give this a 8/10 as it looks good and fits the in-game theme very well but some minor things let this set down.
