Overall I really like the set. It's fun to build, looks great on display and has some fun play features. And it's always fun for me to visit a galaxy far, far away.
We were very excited to see this come out and it delivers great fun. This build is great and looks awesome on the shelf. The minifigure selection is awesome especially Antilles and Bail and the dress for Leia. The ONLY downside is the lack of space to put the characters inside but ours are on proud display so no problem! This is a must have and try to get it when there is 2x points!
75244 Tantive IV is an outstanding set. The entire model is extraordinarily detailed and looks almost perfect when compared with its source material, representing a great improvement over past renditions of the Rebel Blockade Runner. I am particularly satisfied with the slender fuselage and the engine block, both of which are ingeniously constructed so feel robust, especially when supported by the carrying handle.
It's a tricky set to sum up, it has extremely limited play features, yet doesn't feel as much a display piece as a UCS set, although it detailed enough to be one. That's not to say it's a bad set. Most of the newly updated parts of the build are a major improvement over the 2009 version.
For fans looking for an engaging play experience, this probably is not the right set, but for those looking for a large scale set, that's incredibly enjoyable to build and want to simply display it proudly on the shelf, then this is definetely worth capturing in your tractor beam.
As a display set, the new Tantive IV is an amazing build, which features many tiny details. Unfortunately, the rest of the model is spoiled by unnecessary playability. Multiple parts of the ship could have been improved if it were not for the requirement of fitting the minifigures, which could have been displayed on a separate stand.
