I think the set is a good addition to any Batman collection. Even though the Tumbler is a little small, it's executed very well. The design is pretty spot on given the number of pieces used to build it. I absolutely love the design of the Bat. The blue highlights don't take away from it but gives it some detail although I do wish that it was pure black to correspond to the movie.
As a fan of the Nolan Batman trilogy, I ordered this set as soon as it was released. The Bat and the Tumbler are smaller in scale compared to the Dark Knight Tumbler, but I wouldn't penalize Lego for that (if the vehicles were to scale with the 2008 set, this set would probably cost $80-$100). Let me go over the pros and cons of this set: Pros: *The Bat is fairly accurate with guns, missiles, propellors, two seats, and tow cable *The Tumbler has a speed booster and missiles *Vehicles are to scale with each other (unlike the 2008 set where the Tumbler was huge and Joker's truck was small) *Bane and Commissioner Gordon are movie accurate Cons: *Batman wore black, not gray in the movie *Commissioner Gordon comes with an unrealistic two-barreled gun Overall, the pros stand out and the cons are minor. I am very satisfied.
I want to like this set. Honestly. And for the most part, I do! It has some cool elements, and the minifigures are amazing, especially if your a fan of the films. For me, even with all the problems this set has, it was worth the purchase because of the property it was based on. However, that isn't enough. I hadn't purchased any sets from any themes aside from Star Wars until this point, and as far as design goes I have to say this is the worst Lego set I own. Even the 7144 Slave 1 I own from over a decade ago was a better depiction of the source material than the vehicles in this set. Unless you love the films, I can't recommend this set, and even as someone who does love the films I was quite disappointed with almost every aspect of it.
In summary I would say that overall this isn't a bad little set. At it's £40 price point, I think you get a decent amount for your money. Three cool and exclusive minifigs and two nice vehicles. It's a well thought out set and a must have for any LEGO Batman or Super Heroes fan.
