This is a very cheap set considering everything that you get in it, 3 elves, 2 orcs and 1 warg, even a free king, and even THEN you still get another medium sized structure. So what are you waiting for? For sure it will go up in price once Amazon's pricing has ran out.

I really like this set - obviously the initial appeal was good enough to bring me from a three-year hiatus from buying Lego. I'd recommend it to any Lego fan, especially those looking for parts and minifigs for fantasy/medieval MOCs.

Overall this is a decent enough set. The walls are very short and this particular design was never seen in the film. It was probably based on early prelim images of the gate seen during the Barrels out of Bond scene in the film. As a stand alone army builder (it does not connect to a larger set like the Uruk-hai Army does, just connects to other Mirkwood Elf Army sets) I feel like Thranduil should have been left out and included in another set to give it more multiple purchase appeal.

Part of the attraction of this one, that kicks it from good to great, is the simple addition of elves and a better balance of good guys over the bad guys. We can get bad guys almost anywhere, but elves are fairly rare. So now, we can elf armies easier than we could Rohan armies. Given how over-the-top and big all of the battles have been in The Hobbit, we're going to need them.

All told, though, this set is a marvelous deal. 6 minifigures in any set is a pretty good bargain, and in a $30 set it's all the better. The part selection is great, with no single-use pieces, and two highly-useful unique elements in great colors. This set is a must-have for fans of the line, or for anyone looking for a great parts pack.
