Overall, the smallest set is a pretty good introduction to the TMNT line. If you're a Ninja Turtles fan like us, you'll definitely want to be getting your hands on this set.
I'm a little under whelmed by this set, truth be told, I mean, it's not bad, but it's not particularly great either. On the plus side, Mikey is a great minifig and I do like the The Kraang's Mech Walker. The Foot Solider for me is a little dull and I think the laser prison could do with a bit of spicing up, although the exploding mechanism is a nice touch and works well enough.
All in all, it's an average set–nothing here to get too excited about (unless you're a huge fan of the license), but still competent for what it is.
It's a bad value for a pretty nice little set and that was a mistake when you consider the fact that the only character you can't get in another set is Kraang and that's not and issue if you're good with the android version. I have little doubt they'll sell a whack of these bad boys either way. The kids love Mikey and will no doubt go gaga for the “awesome little brain dude". (Actual quote overheard in the LEGO isle and fully agreed with.)
I really do like this set, and I'm sure lots of kids will too. It's got some decent pieces, including purple, and offers a lot of play features in a small size.
