Like his previous lego book, this edition of the Lego ideas book is full of pictures of nice lego creations by some of the world's best lego builders. It's a good book to gain ideas to leapfrog from and make your own version, as well as read about interesting trivias about certain build techniques/lego elements.Keep in mind tho, that it does not have any step-by-step instructions for any model inside the book. Instead, it provides enough pictures for you to use your imagination to try and reverse-engineer the models within. I especially love the "Handful of Bricks section" at the end of each chapter where they showcase the variety of models you can create with just a few pieces.
This book is a lot of fun to thumb through, and should provide you with many ideas for fleshing out your own LEGO models, and transforming them into something truly special!
The book has already been adopted by my kids (meaning I effectively no longer own it) and ever since they got their hands on it there have been little LEGO sketches everywhere, trying to mimic many of the ideas provided in the book. The book is also visually attractive meaning it has been read and reread on multiple car trips and new and inspiring ideas are being discovered by the new owners on a regular basis.
The LEGO Play Book is a fantastic read and a great spin-off of The LEGO Ideas Book. It is highly recommended and you'll have a lot of fun reading through it as well as seeing all the colorful images of the builds by the contributers. I've spent many hours just reading through all the information the book has to offer.
