My son was really excited for this set, but like others have said, it falls apart constantly. The "cables" that go across become disconnected from the base every time you touch it. The bridge also doesn't stay up well, it's supposed to drop down but unless the balloons are all the way forward to weigh it down it doesn't stay up. My son gets frustrated easily and gives up when trying to use this set, and I'm getting very tired or reattaching the cables every 2 minutes. I would definitely recommend a different Angry Birds Lego set.
This set does a great job of recreating a level, and the game play of the Angry Birds app game. It can be played with, like the game, where players try to topple the pigs, or kids can play out and recreate scenes from the animated movie.
Lego Angry Birds is everything you would expect it to be and this set is no different. The only negative side to this set is that it is fragile and that you can't really move the set without the umbrella or the rocks falling off. The Stella minifigure was the highlight as this is this only set you can get her from. Overall, this set is worth buying and do so quickly before it retires!
The completed model is colourful and has lots of moving parts. It is simple construction in many ways with three levels, the ground level with the ice cream trough and TNT catapult, first floor with the hot dog stall and the egg hut, and then the Piggy Back Station at the top. It's not a designer building, part of the Architecture Theme, or something I would put on my coffee table to spark a discussion about enjoying LEGO as a grown-up — it looks very much like a child's toy. This seems entirely appropriate for the recommended age group. The build is surprisingly robust as a bird target, and the actions on hitting certain target areas are effective.
I think the birds and pigs are great and I suspect I'll aim to get one of each. I also rather like the design and, in particular, the colour scheme, of this set. However, as I said at the start, ultimately it's rather disappointing because its play features are virtually impossible to activate in the way they are supposed to be, i.e. by launching a bird at them. A gentle push down on the catapult lever is not enough to send them into flight: you really have to give it a good bashing to get the birds to reach the height needed to get near the hot spots, and the chance of actually hitting such small targets is negligible.
Building this was a fun activity for the six-year-old son of one of my friends. As an AFOL and a ‘parts monkey', I was particularly pleased with the selection of new parts supplied with this set. I have to admit that it has been deconstructed and the parts are now being utilised for other creations.
