Dilophosaurus Ambush

Great set and great price for it. Love the dinosaur and ball. Very different from other sets we already have at our house. I have a little boy who is in my classroom who is autistic and gets work complete with the help of a first, then board. Lots of times his preferred choice for his then activity is Legos so I had to diversify from the mostly Lego friends sets we have at home. Must say this was a great choice. more less

I am here to tell you about this set. The minifigure hands don't break like others do sets do. The dilophosarus is well built. I would totally recommend this to any lego and jurrassic fan. more less

Despite the fact that we don't see the blue and white 4×4 or the actual Dilophosaurus dinosaur in the Jurassic World movie, the Dilophosaurus Ambush (75916) is actually a great set. We get a brand-new dinosaur with some very nice printing as well as the building instructions to create your own classic gray and red jeep, if you have the pieces. The minifigures themselves doesn't add much to the set but Gray in the Gyrosphere at least gives some movie accuracy even with him having long legs instead of short ones. I do recommend picking this set up even at the $30 price point. more less

If you find Dilophosaurus Ambush on sale, I highly recommend picking it up. The Jeep is the best part of this set, whereas in other Jurassic World sets, the dinosaurs have stolen the show. I give it 86% overall on sale. If you are buying it at full price, you are paying quite a bit per brick, and for each minute of build time. The overall score goes down to 80% at full retail price, which I suppose is still not all that bad. It really is a nice Jeep. more less

I had to dock the set a touch for the price - $30 is a bit steep (even with the dino) for only 248 pieces...especially since the majority of those 248 pieces are quite small. The minifigures are also really boring in this set. I haven't yet watched the movie (as of when I wrote this review), so I have no idea how big or small of a character Gray is, but the ACU guy is just dino fodder. All that said, as I built the set I couldn't help but have fun...and really that's the biggest compliment I can give the set! more less

The ACU figure is a welcome addition to our expanding palette, though the Gray figure just strikes me as awful. That ball is as cool as advertised, though I'd be wary of rolling it, since it's going to scratch up pretty easily. It should have some very interesting applications on the MOC scene in short order though. The dilophosaurus is a unique dino to put into our mix, though for being an ambush set, I'd either like to see him ambushing or maybe the set to include a trap or something other than a winch. more less

All told this is a nice set that can provide both display and play value while appealing to builders for its new pieces and technique ideas. That of course all goes on top of the dinosaur included which I believe is likely to become highly sought after once the sets are gone, so it is well worth picking up one or two before reseller prices take hold. more less
