This is an excellent set for fans either The Hobbit films or Lord of the Rings. I plan on getting at least one more set to make a purist custom of Eowyn in Meduseld. None of the torsos have fleshie bits which makes these a good idea for tradition Castle fans as well.
Built it, enjoying it. Nice small set with 4 mini figs! Each character is special in this set. I like the hair for the elves, it also includes their ears. I built my set to make a complete skeleton character but you can follow the directions and keep it in pieces too. Neat dungeon style bricks with stone type patterns adds a great touch to the old keep.
Unless you're really trying to build a somewhat pointless and annoying scene in a movie full of them, Dol Guldur isn't a battle that will be imortalized in a bunch of great MOCs. There are a few decent parts, but nothing overly spectacular to justify the $15.
Really, this boils down to a set with three excellent minifigures with a few bricks thrown in to make sure we don't feel too cheated by the price. But for $14.99 USD, I would expect a higher quality set in terms of design. The problem, I think, is that Dol Guldur isn't a very exciting location to recreate out of LEGO Bricks, and even then there wasn't enough included here to really pull it off.
While it looks pretty alright on display, I will most likely harvest it for parts as soon as I need to clear up some space on my display shelf. I might just keep the minifigures around and assimilate them into my display population.
