This was a Christmas present for my 13 year old granddaughter who is a great Tolkien fan. I was there as she assembled this kit and enjoyed all her comments about how cool all the tiny moving parts (like the door and the exploding ladder) were. She was very happy to add this set to her collection since it has some really fun features.
All in all, I think this is a pretty weak set. It did surpass my expectations, but that's because they were really low. The minifigures are decent but not good enough to make you buy this set specifically for them; the build looks okay, and the price… is ridiculously high.
Unless you're a Lord of the Rings purist like me, the lure of alternate costume minifigures and two below average Orcs simply don't justify the expensive price of Attack on Lake-town.
I definitely like this set. It fits some well-designed buildings and cool play features into a $30 package with over three hundred pieces. It includes some great minifigs, all of which are exclusive to the set. Considering some of the characters and the location play a pivotal role in the movie, it's not a bad set to add to your collection if you're a Tolkien fan.
