If you're a fan of James Bond or the Creator Expert vehicles then this set is an absolute must-have. Not only for the vastly advanced build experience, but because you have a stunning end result with the most exciting play features I can recall in a set for a long time. It may be a little blockier than the real thing, but you will have a different perspective on the set after building it once you appreciate how cleverly it was designed. Overall, this is an essential purchase for play/display and comes highly recommended.
When I found out that LEGO and the Aston Martin/James Bond franchise had partnered up, I was excited to see what the outcome was going to be. Needless to say, after seeing the cool car they chose, it was a day 1 purchase for me. I own a variety of creator sets and I have a smattering of Technic sets from my 30+ years of owning LEGO sets. This is a very interesting mix of both of those building genres. The time it took me to build this set was longer than a normal build and that was on purpose. Mainly, because I was so interested in the features and the functionality as this model was in process (and I joyfully built it with my 3 year old daughter). I would imagine normal advanced builders would put this together in 2-3 hours. I understand people's trepidation with the car not exactly looking like the DB5 it is modeled after, but I find that to be the least of my concerns! I think it looks fabulous! Oh and man is it fun to play with. Everybody in my house has NOT been able to stop playing with this set (including me). Kudos to the designer for being able to capture the gadgets and work them into this set. I am not so much amazed, but appreciative of every hidden detail that went into this. Thank you for the fun set and fun build!
Pretty cool LEGO set. Please note, this set is newly released and is exclusive to LEGO VIP members. The retail price is $149.99, so I'd recommend being patient & waiting for this set to become more readily available. Hopefully this review was helpful. Happy bricking.

The LEGO Creator James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262) is a set that I didn't expect LEGO to release due to the nature of the subject matter but it seems to be welcomed with open arms. This set is substantially different to previous years' Creator Expert sets with all the play features it has. I'm not ashamed to say that I spent quite a while playing with the ejector seat after I finished building. I do also have some gripes about the set as well. The main thing is the blocky look of it. The real Aston Martin DB5 has very distinct curves to it and at certain angles of the set, it doesn't look as good. The Aston Martin DB5 may not appeal to some collectors of the Creator Expert line but for those who are also fans of the James Bond 007 franchise, this set may be for you.
I don't remember the last time I had this much fun building a set and then repeatedly taking it apart just to see how it works. The Creator Expert standard is set high, but I don't expect every new model to be an educational experience in building techniques. Now that the Ideas platform tested the waters of the film-car fanbase, we might get to see more four-wheeled film stars in a scale that lends itself better to the detail they deserve.
The Aston Martin DB5 is one of the most famous production cars ever created, due in no small part to its prominent role in the James Bond franchise, so feels like a worthy successor to such icons as the Ferrari F40 and the Volkswagen Beetle. However, this set represents a dramatic departure from previous Creator Expert vehicles, including a far wider range of functions and therefore relying more heavily upon Technic parts. I appreciate these changes but can imagine that some fans might be disappointed by the greater focus upon functions over form, despite the effective integration of the gadgets. Unfortunately, I think this model reveals some limitations of the LEGO building system. It appears rather square from certain angles and the flowing bodywork of the real car is not captured accurately, particularly towards the rear. Replicating such complex shapes using LEGO bricks is extremely difficult at this scale, leading me to wonder whether a more angular Bond car such as the Lotus Esprit might have been a better subject.
On the positive side, the car is packed full of really fun working features, it has a solid selection of interesting parts in high quantities, and you might just learn some useful building techniques along the way. However, the overall shaping leaves a lot to be desired, most of the parts themselves are in a fairly boring light gray (vs. the unusual dark green and azure for previous cars), and the price is rather high at $150 for less than 1,300 pieces — Creator sets are generally a great value. Taken as a whole, then, the LEGO Aston Martin DB5 is by no means a perfect set, but it's still a solid entry in the excellent Creator Expert vehicle line.
