This was the most fun I've had building a LEGO set in years, and it's going on my mantle as a display piece.

It was a blast to put together. The manual had wonderful little factoids throughout describing each part I was working on and the detail is incredible!

The Rambling Brick

Recommendation: yes 4.5 / 5 by Richard

I really enjoyed this build: it uses clever building techniques, handles odd angles, and given the way the studs face, just like in space, it is hard to work out, from time to time, which way is up. I found it strange that the descent stage was so parts intensive, yet the ascent module felt like it came together with relatively few elements.

I highly recommend the NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander set. Even at full price, you are definitely getting your money's worth both in terms of the cost-per-brick as well as the amount of build time that you get. Builders will also pick up some great build techniques to use in future custom projects. The only downside with this set is the lack of detail in the Minifigures, and their lack of accessories.

I think I paid $164 each (got two of them) because they were rare and hard to get. Ended up at a Lego store the following week and it was $99!!! These people rip you off. Of course, I was dumb and didn't know better. I was a sucker, but it's a shame there is people out there that suck other people. Thanks buddies.

This is an excellent set, which looks particularly striking due to the large number of Metalized GoldGold parts, iconic shape, and the lunar landscape that it's sitting on. It is a fantastic display piece, which will look great in your home or displayed proudly on your desk at work.

This set has been carefully crafted to look a lot like a LEGO Architecture set and it is obviously a showpiece rather than a play set (even though it is still possible to play with it). Just as with the NASA Apollo Saturn V, the set is perfect as a show piece for a science class, either in a school or elsewhere. The fact that you can see all the little details in both stages make it a set that is not just fun to build but also interesting to see and explain.

10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander is an outstanding set, matching the high standard established by the recent 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V. The model looks fantastic on display, featuring many realistic details and numerous metallic gold elements that really stand out against the dark lunar surface. I love how the octagonal shape of the descent stage has been designed and the ascent stage looks similarly realistic.

It may not have the spatial impact of the Apollo 11 Saturn V but it just a culturally important. I'd even say it makes for a better display piece than the Saturn V. I like that it has been designed to mimic the modular nature of the actual Lunar Lander. This not only makes the set an interesting build, it could also be considered an educational tool.

It is unusual to get a space-themed set with the Creator Expert label, but hopefully this just shows the beginning of an even more diverse product line. NASA has become an established part of popular culture, and TLG follows trends closely. I am expecting to see the Moon Lander join all those Saturn V models we keep seeing on shelves of people who are not necessarily LEGO fans, but just want to enjoy an icon of science & technology.

Fans of the Apollo Program or NASA, as well as those who have fond memories of being alive at the time of the Apollo missions, will be thoroughly delighted by the LEGO Group's commemorative model. Likewise, fans of quality LEGO sets or those looking to learn high level techniques will find a lot to love in this set.

There is one simple way to describe this wonderful experience: LEGO Creator Expert 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander is a set no-one knew we needed. You don't need to be a fan of space to fall in love with the set. But if you are a fan and you already got LEGO Ideas 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V, please don't make a huge mistake of leaving the new brilliant addition to the Apollo 11 mission out of your collection.

Well, I can keep it short. This set is simply amazing. The end result looks great and realistic. The build process is good, with some very clever techniques. Only small downside is the repetitiveness of some parts, but it's nowhere near some other Creator Expert sets.
