Burj Khalifa

I visited Dubai during the summer and after going to the top of the tower, bought the original Burj Kahlifa model. Building this brought back memories of the trip. The model itself is much more detailed and a better representation of the building than the previous offering from Lego. Love how tall it is comparing to the other skyscrapers in the collections. Very fitting. more less

I love these! I like to just sit down and build them, they aren't super difficult so if you're looking for relaxation and you like models these are perfect! However, if you really want a challenge, these probably won't do it for you. Definitely not for young children, maybe 10+ . They look really cool all put together and you can either leave them up or pull them down and do it all over again! more less

A nice build and a great rendition of the original tower, but not very interesting to build. The part selection do its job, but isn't really interesting. And please LEGO, test the usability of your instructions booklet. more less

I'd most likely pass on the Burj Khalifa for another set like the Imperial Palace or the Trevi Fountain. Nonetheless, the set does have those two awesome building moments, and some nice pieces to use later on. more less

The 2016 Burj Khalifa (21031) will be the first set to have two LEGO Architecture sets dedicated to the landmark with the first being set 21008 back in 2011. The new version is somewhat of an improvement on the other set which consisted of mostly round bricks however the old one did have the stacking round look of the real-life building. The LEGO Architecture landmark series has a certain appeal factor to collectors and may not be for everyone but it does give me appreciation for these kinds of sets. more less

Funnily enough, for all its faults, the earlier version 21008 does look prettier and actually achieves it aim: to encapsulate the heart of the design in rudimentary form. 21031 is an exciting and more realistic attempt, a thrillingly tall model and great to build but at the end of the day, I just don't like looking at it for long. more less

If you are already an Architecture landmark collector, you will want to buy this set but if you are not, it doesn't have a lot going for it, particularly compared to the new Cityscapes which are far more appealing in my opinion. more less
