While LEGO, in general, encourages a lot of creative building, we like that you can use the same set of pieces to create three entirely different creations. It also incorporates a lot of moveable pieces that young builders can utilize to animate their LEGO animal's expressions and movements. With the cat for example, you can move its eyebrows up and down, position it in a crouched position, move its tail, and open and close its mouth.
What I love the most is the playability of the cat. His head, hands, legs, tail, eyes, eyebrows, whiskers, lower jaw and ears can be rotated in many directions. I also like the creative use of some parts. For example, the handlebars were used for eyebrows. I love the building techniques, the build was very fun and I also got some ideas for my MOCs. I would recommend this set to everyone.
My 7 yr. old granddaughter loved this set. She thought the bunny was the cutest for Easter. But did make all 3 ideas. It w as a big hit. She did need some help putting them together. To give them three dimensional look, there are a lot of little pieces that need to be placed perfectly for the look.
Which model do I prefer here? I thought I was a dog person. However, the face of the cat is more expressive, and uses a number of advanced techniques, in simple ways. The final effect is delightfully whimsical, which is how I would consider the days spent working with this set.
I'm not totally convinced that the model has successfully captured the personality of a cat, although it is a valiant effort to do so, but it hasn't quite hit the mark, in my opinion. One thing's for sure though, I could certainly do no better so perhaps I shouldn't criticise and just be thankful that LEGO is making Creator sets like this and not just churning out more cars, planes, helicopters and houses every year.
