For $20 this is a great value! The rocket truck is really cool, wacky looking, with some interesting building techniques, and a little bigger than I expected! The ATV looks fun and that will be the next one I build should I find the heart to take apart that truck.
This set was easy and enjoyable to build. There was nothing out-of-the-ordinary and the three models all have their merits. The usual caveats of the 3-in-1 sets are plain to see, and the three models are a bit too similar in construction to maintain the level of interest through the build process. The rocket truck itself is a really cool model, but it could have been truly kick-ass if built in a better colour scheme. I don't think I would buy this set for myself, though kids will likely enjoy it.
As mentioned in previous Creator 3-in-1 set reviews, if a set offers multiple builds, I very rarely choose to build the alternate models. By reviewing this set, I have chosen to try out the additional models and in the case of this particular set, I like them just as much as the lead model. Sure the Rocket Truck is definitely the best of the three but the Off-Roader and Quad Bike feel robust enough to be sets in their own right, instead of cobbled together in order to make use of the elements from the lead model. All in all I enjoyed building this set just as much as seeing the finished build.
Despite my misgivings about the real world practicalities of the potentially unbearable heat in the cab of the main model (leading to melted minifigures) I actually really like this set. The two alternative builds are very high quality and I think the quad bike (with a few minor alterations) could have been a set in its own right.
