I don't get the hate for this product. It wasn't advertised as an advent calendar, and I'm not sure why folks thought that they would get anything even akin to a Lego brand advent calendar at 1/3 or 1/4 of the price of their actual expensive advent calendars. My kids (4 and 5) each received a set (two of these were still much lower than one advent calendar) and loved building a new project each day. The pieces are tiny and sometimes required my help to seat them, but overall, the assembly instructions were really easy to follow and not at all time consuming. The kids did not mind breaking down the previous day's project because they were excited for the next one. I knock a star off because there are a handful of builds where I cannot really tell at the end what we built (a monkey? A squirrel? A snowboarder?) and they don't name or title the projects in any way.

I've been really impressed with this set. Sure, it's had some interesting (and sometimes quite dumb) models, but for a free set, it's been a blast to build each day. I'm very pleased to add it to the collection. I wonder what next year will bring?
