The building is rather basic with some cool awnings and a very nice little build of a sign. The strength of the sets detail is in the interior and all the brick-built pastries and other details like the counter, oven and pastry cases. I know it's open on two sides and the ceiling so it's easier to play with all of that detail, but I would like to see a complete building. Since these are meant for kids to play with and not just sit on a shelf, the designed lack of roof is actually a benefit for the target audience.

My daughter wanted to recreate what she had watched on a Lego Friends cartoon (an episode where the friends planned a surprise birthday party and went to the bakery for a cake). So, when this set went on sale, it was a good purchase.The bakery makes a very cute corner addition to our LEGO Friends town.The colors of the bricks and overall shape of the building allows this to blend in nicely with the other buildings. Still, I struggle with how small the yellow baseplate is when compared to other LEGO Friends sets I've purchased in this price range.My daughter was annoyed by the frying pan not completely fitting inside the oven. However, I am surprised she doesn't mind that the oven and display case don't fit inside the bakery. Sure, I can supplement my own bricks to connect these elements to the base. Yet, for the price, this isn't ideal.

Overall, I think this is a win-win for children and adults. Children get great playability and could add this to any town. Adults get some awesome MOC parts in great colors that I plan to put to good use.
