My 8 yr. old granddaughter is a dragon fan! I surprised her with The Water Dragon. She was excited and had a difficult time waiting for us to find time to work on it! She easily flipped through the pages of directions and easily sorted what pieces we needed. We had trouble with the opposing hind legs: right vs. left but figured it out!! After it was assembled she spent hours manipulating all the flexible pieces designing postures representing fight/rest/flying, etc. She really loves this dragon.
This is by far, one of the best LEGO sets my 8 year-old daughter has ever received....and we have a lot of them! She just loves dragons and this dragon was fun for her to build and is so much fun to play with! Ball joints are used to connect the legs, arms, feet, and neck to the body so they all move at the "joints" and have a great range of motion! The wings move up and down and the mouth also opens and closes. There is a seat on the dragon's back for the figure to sit in. The set also comes with a little island that has accessories for the girl figure and a part which allows you to catapult food into the mouth of the dragon. Great details, LEGO! Thanks for making such a great set!

Girl who are fans of LEGO Elves will love adding this set to their collection. The dragon, figure, and accessories are packed with details that LEGO Elves fans will enjoy for imaginative roleplay. This is a 30 minute build and the play is endless.
The Water Dragon Adventure is a delightful set for fans of LEGO Elves. For more agnostic or neutral LEGO fans, it might take a bit of a push to embrace the more feminine features of the Elves sets and their minidolls – this set isn't for everyone, but if you've got an open mind, it makes for a great introduction to the new Elves dragons.
I recommend the set. You will get great pieces for the cost of the set, and the dragon herself is wonderfully designed.
I think the dragon is fantastic. I love the use of the ball joints that allows for so much flexibility in posing. The colours for the dragon are great - the blue and purple are a good match for the water dragon. The multi-colour wings are wonderful - and I like that there's one extra provided. I spent a lot of time swooshing the dragon around.
41172 The Water Dragon Adventure is the smallest and least expensive Elves set to let you experience the joy of creature building. I hope many of you give Merina a chance and find out how sweet and fun she really is!
