Disclaimer: This review is about this kit, but also about every Lego kit I've ever gotten my kids.Lego has transformed from my childhood. Back then, you got a bunch of different blocks, and it was up to you to make what you wanted. Now, you're buying what is essentially an expensive model kit. The quality is great, but you're locked into one and only one way to put the thing together. Wish Lego would come out with something that had the cool little intricate pieces but also provided multiple ways of building the same kit to encourage reuse.
This set is amazing because it has so many cool features like the conveyor belt. The vet and the grooming salon can be switched and the balcony is on the outside of the building. This set was super fun to make. I was so glad when this set came out because I just know I had to have it. I really liked the doggy door on the front. The doggy door was a neat idea! Everybody needs to have this set because it is fun to play with.
This construction set will be a lot of fun for LEGO Friends fans who are also animal lovers. There are a lot of fun features to engage kids in nurturing pet play, from shopping for the perfect pet to caring for them at the doctor's office and making sure they look perfectly coiffed. As with all LEGO Friends sets, this one will inspire a lot of imaginative storytelling.
The brightness of this set is like sunshine burst onto your building table! It would look good on a street near the Heartlake Supermarket. I respect that they wanted to use all the colors in Heartlake City because this is a "central" location. Real-life Vet clinics often have soothing colors in their decor -- probably for the owners rather than the pets. It's stressful taking a pet to a clinic. Pets need a cheerful vibe. This place has it.
Having sets centred around pets is a rather evergreen theme for Friends; you'll see a couple sets dedicated to pets every year. This set is nice in that provides a good assortment of pets - I particularly like that Bubbles the turtle has been included. I'm glad there are three minidolls and I like that Liam was included - however it would be nice if he was wearing something different than his last appearance. There's also plenty to do in the pet centre - the store, clinic and grooming salon as well as the vehicle provide the opportunities for lots of stories.
