My 7 year old received this excellent set for her birthday and loves it. We have been recreating many scenes from GBBO. Great detail and value for money.
We really love LEGOs in this family. My daughter can spend hours playing with them. I really like them because she can be creative. Once she is done putting together the item she will often make her own creations.I love the quality of the LEGOs. I don't think we have ever had one break and we have many, many sets. I also like that she has something to play with once she makes it. Of course she has to be careful with it, but if she is, she can play with it.These make great gifts. I think my kid loves it the best of all. It is good for both boys and girls. It is also nice when the set goes with something like this one does. This was a good set. She was able to put it together on her own. It really kept her occupied for quite a while. I think it is also educational. It is good that she can follow the directions and also for hand-eye coordination.I would highly recommend this set.
Kids will have a blast building this food-themed set and playing out a baking competition, a regular cooking show, or whatever story they want to tell. There are a lot of fun details, like the fire extinguisher and the ingredients wheel, which brings to life elements from real cooking shows and prompts imaginative storytelling.
Lots of pro's with this set. I liked that this set is offering us something different. New concepts in LEGO are always welcome. Also the playability is off the charts. Both my Son and Daughter love this set. It also offers some great accessories and mini-builds (that are elevated by the stickers) that make this an okay parts pack. It sits firmly in the average cost range too ($40, 11c per part) making it good enough value for money.
41393 Baking Competition is an extremely engaging LEGO Friends set that is interesting to put together but will also satisfy fans as a finished build, with plenty of details to enjoy. The best part is there's no risk of flour being sifted everywhere, nor any washing up required afterwards.
My one- and three-year-old children absolutely loved the large cakes; they were the first thing that disappeared from the set and we had to hunt them down (the youngest has a habit of hoarding and not relinquishing the things he loves.) There is a lot of play value to the set; older children would be occupied for some time acting out the television show, and three mini-dolls are a decent amount for play. It's also always nice to see a new (or infrequent) character, and male mini-dolls are relatively few and far between. The inclusion of a film camera, and the trophy and cheque, along with the story suggestions (such as David's kitchen disaster), only add to the fun.
Cake decorating itself is detail-oriented, so this set will satisfy those fans who love to bake -- or just watch others on TV.
