I highly recommend this set to any LEGO fan! It really is a fantastic buy! Plus, if you end up not liking it, it's a perfect parts pack!
I bought this as a gift for my Lego Loving nephew. He requested this set along with three others - we got him all of them. He combined sets and had a blast mixing and matching parts and making up his own scenes. The pieces are sturdy and colorful. It's great that they can be used independently or as a crossover to other sets since they are all Lego and all fit each other. The cannibals are fun and the cage is the best part.
Where I come from, that is a high 'C,' meaning a normal, average passing grade. It's hard for me to exactly reflect in numbers how I feel about this set, but I think I've done so in words. Some of you will probably like this set much more than I did, and some less, but in the end I think we could probably agree that it's a set that has its goods and its bads, but in the end is really nothing special.
Pleasantly surprised by this set! Loses points a bit because it's quite highly priced but it was quite fun building (not a lot of repetition) and it just looks really good on my desk. Rounded up by a strong selection of minifigs, definitely a set to look out for if you're into Pirates of the Caribbean!
As a playset, this set has it far better than most of the rest of the line. It has a throne that does it's job, the fire and spit are simple and fun little additions, and the cage and cave sections are actually a decent little set. But the whole affair is defined as a “good enough" set. Nothing in particular shines, except maybe the spit, but you can actually play with it.
