The first thing I noticed about this set is the bold colour scheme. I'm sure some won't like it, but I think it is a good change. Also, the suspension does a great job, especially in the rear where it travels a great distance. On the other hand, it is strange how a rally car does not have four wheel drive, and the lack of any new, exciting functions is disappointing. I am also surprised that there isn't a single powered technic set this first half of the year. Still, it is cool how small panels flare out in front of the rear wheels when you lift the engine cover at the back! In conclusion, I think it is a good set for those who aren't looking for a big challenge, but want a good sized model. I would recommend it!
Absolutely amazing. First off, this thing is HUGE! It takes up a lot of space, great for display and it's very durable so it's great to play with Second: It can easily be converted to an RC with the lego power sets (sold separately)Third: there THREE alternative builds for this set. A sunny buggy and a hot rod. So far, my fave technic set ever. Worth every penny.
Nice, big set, but seems a bit unfinished in some areas. It is most probably meant to be like this. For relatively low number of pieces/price, you get pretty big set, with very nice look. Some would say it is meant for modifications. I would say it is way too simple. It might be a very interesting rally car after few user-made modifications, but we could say that for other sets as well.
It's very much a display model: there's not much to play with and not much in the way of functionality, but if you're looking for something to grace your desk or display cabinet it fits the bill perfectly.
42077 Rally Car is one of the best introductory set I've ever seen for anyone who is interested in Technic. Not only does it teach the basic structure of the car's chassis, it also serves as a brilliant base — both literally and figuratively — for custom creations of your own, like cars, off-road vehicles or even crawlers with independent suspension. Moreover, you can easily motorise the car with nearly no additional parts.
