This set is packed with features and details that let kids create all sorts of imaginative, open-ended play. There are tons of little accessories that work with the different features to give kids lots of different play experiences. One of them is found in each prison cell where the toilets hide the crooks' escape routes. Another fun feature is the crook's tow truck, which has a grappling hook that can be used to pull the prison bars down and free the captured crooks.
This is a great set. My 5-year-old got it for Christmas and he had fun building all the pieces by himself. It took him 3 sessions on 3 days, because the 69-steps for each module get a bit tiring for a 5-year-old. Now that it's completed, we bought some Lego road plates and started to create a little town with some older Lego sets and some new creations out of the big Lego bin. The kids have a ton of fun with it. Definitely worth it.
My 6 year-old and I had a blast building the police station. He loves breaking the bad guys out of jail and capturing them again. It's going to have a long shelf life at our house.
It is a nice, long build and a decent value. The design is fun, but lacking in realism a little (Minifigures need stairs too). The vehicles and play features are great. The Minifigs are good but generic.
