I'm an aunt and a godmother and I always choose and will (while it's age-appropriate) to gift my kids with Lego sets. I've witnessed kids' eyes light up, excitement grow and genuine fun rise. I am a strong believer that building with Lego blocks:1) Promotes motor skills2) Improves creativity and engineering thinking3) Develops persistence and planning skills4) Encourages problem solving and mathematical thinkingI've witnessed kids play with it for hours, engaged and eager to accomplish!
This is a fun vehicle construction set that allows kids to build and then engage in imaginative play. Cool accessories and interactive parts add to the fun. Kids can have their driver shovel snow, climb aboard the truck, and plow or salt the roads. It would also make a great addition to a LEGO City display.
It is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but if anything get it for the truck and convert it into your own MOC. Very well done here LEGO.
I really like this set and the colour scheme, stickers and play functionality are really good and well thought out. Maybe it's time to give Dave a new home?
There are a lot of things to like about the set (the color scheme, the "working" salt spreader, the large tires) but there are a lot of missed opportunities too (no warm headgear for the driver, no hinge for the bucket, too many stickers for such a small set). In the end, I'm happy to have this set in my collection...and I definitely hope LEGO continues to do a few snow related sets here and there, but I think with a bit more thought this could have been an excellent set. Instead, it's simply a good set without any real wow factors.
There's mechanics, moving parts, big tyres and nice colours, but it gets let down with the stickers, wrongly paired minifigure (and only one of them!) and non-tippable bucket.
For me this is the pick of the Winter line-up in the City theme. It is an unusual but useful vehicle and this is a superb model which closely resembles its real life counterpart. There are not many play features but I imagine the intimidating nature of the truck will make up for this in the opinions of many buyers.
