The Vessel has a working winch for lowering and raising the smaller vehicles. There are also multiple play spaces including a wheel house, and lower deck cabins. The underwater shipwreck is filled with gold bars, and has a lever feature that causes its wheelhouse to collapse. This large set comes with everything needed to build and play out a deep sea exploration.
I cannot help but recommend picking this set up, especially if you're big into Science-themed sets. The value contained in this set is astounding and even at full price, I feel that you get a lot of bang for your buck.
Well having just got back into Lego and just finished with the Arctic Ice Breaker set I wasn't sure where to continue although I felt like i would continue on with the City series. I ended with this set as it continued on with the sea/boat theme. Lots of fun little details like the sea creatures. I think the main vessel is really cool and apparently it really floats! I have also really enjoyed discovering all the mini figures. Of course there is little challenge in building them but with continued collecting the variety with just grow! Haven't tried but for kids that would be an awesome feature!
My son is having a blast with this set. Out of all of his sets, this is his favorite. I bought him a small blue plastic toddler pool to put this in. We filled it up with water and he made an awesome play area for this set. You can't really get the benefits of the sunken ship if it's not in water. The best part about the set being in water is that nothing comes loose or goes missing. Every time we go to the beach he finds more shells to add to the pool. We also ordered a sand colored lego plate so the sunken ship would attach to it and not float up. It's working well for him and he's having a great time adding and collecting sea creatures to his sea.

Despite the very minor points mentioned above about flaws in the navigation safety, I really like this set. When this set is viewed alongside RV Tioga, there are some remarkable similarities compared with the real world version. There is a great variety of vehicles that can be used for Deep Sea Exploration.
