To close I loved/adored every part of this set and I think this will become a benchmark for other themed minifigure sets moving forward. Final recommendation would be to buy a 32×32 green base plate to arrange the park.
This is a cool, detailed set that LEGO City fans are sure to enjoy. With 14 buildable minifigures this set provides kids, and collectors figures to add to their existing sets, whether for imaginative play or using as part of a display. The figures include a range of ages from the baby to children, teenagers, middle-aged adults, and even an elderly couple offering a lot of play and display possibilities. Plus this is the first set to include a LEGO baby! In addition to the figures, there are park-themed accessories from playground equipment to food items. Some of the accessories have interactive features. The playground equipment spins, the wheelchair features real-working wheels, the top of the hot dog cart opens, and holds the hot dogs. Overall, the colorful park setting, and variety of people are a nice addition to the LEGO City line.
I purchased this set for my 7 year old son who loves Legos. Given his age, he enjoys the imaginative play more than the building which is what made this set so great. There is some simple building involved with this set (picnic table, merry-go-round, hot dog stand, etc.), but the best part about this set is the amount of minifigures! There are 14 regular sized minifigures and one baby minifigure. The baby is really cute, but, probably due to the small size, the baby's arms and legs don't move, only the head. There are also some fun and unique pieces such as the dog, bike, wheelchair, baby stroller, lawnmower, etc.
This set is amazing you get 14 minifigures with assorted accessories plus a new baby and wheelchair which is just one piece. The mini builds in the set include a picnic table, bus stop sign, two trees, soccer ball and net, hotdog stand, bench, mower, fence, stroller, and a merry go round. the builds add on to the set but the main thing this set are the minifigures and that's why it is a little pricey for 157 pieces but there are a lot of minifigures. The builds are great, the hotdog stand has a compartment that you can open up and put about two hotdogs in. The picnic table and bench are basic but do a lot when you add them to a park or city. The trees are a nice addition I just wish that they came with a small platform to put them on otherwise they get knocked off pretty easy. The merry go round is great it looks great and works fantastic. The bus stop sign is also good and is a printed sign. The mower, fence, and stroller are also small builds but do a lot to compliment the minifigures. My one complaint is the soccer goal, when you get the ball through and in the goal the ball can go past because it isn't covered up, but the soccer ball is a nice addition. Also included in this set are a bike, wheelchair, croissant, apple, basket, bottle, painter brush, bucket, hotdog bun and sausage, flowers, suitcase, and a dog. This set is great but I would recommend more sets to along with this because the minifigures are great but the set itself is pretty small as far as builds go.
I really do like most of the Minifigures in this set, and the wheelchair and baby are super nice new pieces. But, at $49.99 with four ape-child Minifigs, it really is too high a price point in my opinion. The builds in this set are alright, and useful in a city, but something more unique, like perhaps a swing set, would have been better than that lack-luster soccer net.
I like this set a lot. I think for the price ($39.99, £34.99) you get plenty of minifigures, and original ones at that - all the torsos are new to this set and many of the heads and headpieces are recent releases. Personally, I am going to be using this set to populate a lot of my sets to add extra character (pun intended) - it will be a great change from raiding my advent calendars as I have done in the past. I personally love that several minifigures are portrayed with glasses. That was something really important to me when I was a kid - I wore glasses, but I rarely saw people with glasses portrayed in toys or elsewhere.
