This is an especially cute LEGO set. The polar setting is appealing as are the winter characters and two vehicles. The polar bear and husky dog have huge kid appeal. Legs on the bear are movable. The only tiny disappointment was that the legs on the husky don't move which really makes it simply a plastic figure. Still this is a particularly appealing set. I do wish, though, that they had included an explicitly female character to broaden the appeal.
We had a lot of fun with these sets. We especially enjoyed the authentic details that make this Arctic collection feel so real.
The Arctic Scout Truck is a wonderful set. The truck has a nice design and comes with fun figurines, including a polar bear. The main drawback of this kit is the price. $79.99 is far too expensive for a set of this size in my opinion.
I really like the final build, created with the combination of the Boost Creative Toolkit and the Arctic Scout Truck. The themes share similar colour palettes, and mixing them together seems to work well, from a design perspective. The vehicle is quite functional, and the app offers several different ways to interact with it. The sound effects added to the movement command blocks add a degree of realism to the model, and gave me a good chuckle the first time I made the truck drive backwards. The programming challenges encountered while building the model break up the build, but do delay completion significantly. I quite like some of the ‘equipment builds': especially the new (stickered up) computer. The orca and squid were a little peculiar however. [Editor's note: This review is for the official combined 60194 / 17101 model.]
For such a big scout truck the bear can easily stand on it's hind legs and look straight into the windows. I like how realistic the truck is and its size definitely makes it worth its price. I would highly recommend this set.
Overall, I have enjoyed the first part of my trip to the Arctic. I love the minifigure selection, as well as the animals. Even the sticker sheet is well thought out, and creates some desirable elements. The truck and bike are an interesting combination, and we get a good collection of parts for further vehicle development.
