We had a lot of fun with this train. It's just so much fun that this Lego train actually is motorized with 10-speeds. Plus, you can lift off the roof to access the passenger train cabins filled with cool details, like muffins and a croissant. Moreover, there is a lot of track so you can set the rails in different ways to fit your own city style.

This was easier to build than many other LEGO sets. The engine worked flawlessly and is very quiet. My 7 year old got this for his birthday. He loves it! The build was a little difficult for him alone so we just built it together. I've probably spent thousands of dollars on LEGO sets. This is easily my favorite. Totally worth the $!

Finally got a passenger train to go with all the cargo trains! My son really enjoys using his iPhone to control this thing as well. It is great having the sounds to go with it!

Given that this set looks great, makes good use of the increased internal space and features the upgraded version of Power Functions, it is easy to recommend to those looking for their first City train as well as those who are considering adding it to their rolling stock.

Recommendation: no 3.5 / 5 by Richard

This is my first experience with a LEGO Passenger train, and while simplistic, it allows getting down to business quickly, and was easy to adapt to alternative technologies. I suspect I will try plugging in a PFx brick and S brick in the future. So many Bluetooth options. I quite like the new system, and for this train set, it offers several advantages over the old system.

I really like the way in which the designers have created a modern looking City train. I particularly like the way that the LEGO Train double-arrow logo has been modified to create a very contemporary look for the engine. The arrow logo uses a white plate to stretch the arrow the full length of the train.
